Part Bin Lookup

Be able to scan a barcode or type in product information to obtain the bin locations. Understanding that this would require a message back to the WMS system to get this additional bit of information. May not even be feasible.

Problem/opportunity trying to be solved

Be able to lookup the bin locations that a part is supposed to be in from the bot directly.

Quantify the problem/opportunity

Parts can be misplaced or not in a proper location. In order to determine where the part needs to be, the site needs to utilize their WMS system to lookup the part and see which bin it goes into.

What is the root cause of the problem/opportunity

Needing to have additional WMS devices on the floor with the bots to properly replace any parts not in the correct locations.

The site would have to either scan in or type in the UPC for the product through a separate app that could make the call back to the WMS system. Today they have to go and grab a scanner that is tied to their WMS system and scan it with that separate unit.

The information would let the associate know how many units should be in that location, or even confirm the location of the product if there was one on the floor. The associates often find products that have fallen on the floor and unable to know the location to place the product back in it.

I would agree this is much more of a WMS function and would require a good chunk of work on our end to implement the additional messages. Even if this isn't implemented anytime in the next year, I do have other sites that would be interested in being able to do such a reverse lookup using the bots in some fashion.

Denis - How often do you think the customer would do this? How do they do this today? What would the associate do with the information? My instinct is that this belongs with the WMS / inventory control system, not Locus.
