Remove the need to scan barcodes of totes to induct them. Have the bot display what it is expecting to be placed on the shelfs and in which location and allow the associate to acknowledge they did that and move on.
Problem/opportunity trying to be solved
Remove the need to scan a barcode before being able to induct a container onto a bot. Specifically for sites in which the container barcode means nothing to the customers WMS. |

Quantify the problem/opportunity
Concordance currently inducts their totes or cartons (full boxes to be picked to an empty shelf) by scanning reusable barcodes that are labeled 0001 - 1000. The sites are attempting to reduce the amount of muda that goes into inducting bots. The sites function strictly on a per order basis and there are no mixing of orders on a mission. During induction, we already know what the next tote or carton to induct is going to be, scanning the barcode provides no further context other than meeting the current needs of the system. |
|
What is the root cause of the problem/opportunity
Sites that do not care about information on the totes can quickly induct the bots based on what the bot is already expecting to be loaded onto it for the mission. This can reduce unnecessary cost of labeling 1000's of the same exact totes as well as reduce steps of scanning barcodes. |
