Problem/opportunity trying to be solved
Locus currently supports "push" type p2p transport: users can select a destination to send a cart. Most of manufacturing operations need a "pull" type mission request: users select a type cart they need as soon as they run out of raw materials. |
|
Quantify the problem/opportunity
Example: A manufacturing cell uses 3 types of raw materials - A, B and C. As type 'A' gets depleted, user can request 'A' cart sent to them. When this request is made (TC53 device or Banner wifi enabled push button?), an available Vector will pickup a cart from 'A' staged carts and deliver to that cell. Plus: Vector picks up empty from the cell, delivers to 'A' cart area, picks up a full 'A' cart and delivers to the cell. (adidas facility we toured is using MiR which supports this workflow) |
|
What is the root cause of the problem/opportunity
Push system has it limitations as the person at the "source" may not have visibility into all the destinations that NEED that cart unless it is communicated in some way |
