I would like to be able to duplicate a pre-existing route in LN Transport Routes manager. This would allow for easy "backups" which will prevent customer P2P outages. It could also have future applications if a customer wants certain route additions built in for peak seasons, but disabled at other times.
Problem/opportunity trying to be solved
LN currently only has the ability to build transport routes from scratch or edit routes which have already been created. There is no functionality to "back up" or save P2P transport routes in the LN Transport Routes screen, and no ability to duplicate a current transport route. |

Quantify the problem/opportunity
Sites using bots for P2P that want to make significant route changes run high risk of outage should a route be updated incorrectly. In order to safely "backup" a pre-existing route, you must re-create it from scratch and then use the re-created version to build the route changes while preserving the old routes. This is a lengthy process depending on complexity (Sager, for example, took ~1 hour to recreate with the requested changes). You also run a greater chance of misclicking and rebuilding incorrectly, which will cause P2P issues on site. The alternative is to make changes to the current route. If something is built incorrectly, or not to the customer's specifications, there is no way to revert other than to try and step back through the changes one by one and return everything to the original layout. There is also no "staging" capability which means in order to save changes they must be pushed live. |

What is the root cause of the problem/opportunity
P2P is a newer part of the Locus solution, and the process for building routes and making significant route changes is one many at Locus are not familiar with. Most P2P route building to date has been done during initial deployments where from-scratch routes are the only option. Post-deployment changes were not required in the past due to the recentness of P2P deployment at sites. |
