The request would be to have multiple maps uploaded onto the locus system giving the customer the ability to select which one they would like to use at specific times. This would give them the ability to switch off specific aisles, Cut throughs or passages.
Problem/opportunity trying to be solved
Dynamic No Go areas to make the flow of bots more efficient in high traffic periods of the day or of the year. |
|
Quantify the problem/opportunity
Customers who Replen aisles at specific times of the day who have cut throughs that are narrow or have high traffic MHE areas depending on the time of day or year. |
|
What is the root cause of the problem/opportunity
Some operations try and plan in their Replens when using MHE to avoid as many Bots as they can. However this can be challenging in busy times or peak periods. |

An approach would be to have a multi-layered map concept. There would be a master map for the site and then optional overlays which contain layers to be applied to the Master Map. Each overlay could than have an exclusion/no-go area. The user would temporarily enable one or more of the exclusion area (overlay) maps which would then be "merge" with the Master (normal) Map. The resulting temporary (merged) map would then have the area defined in the overlay free of robots allowing the site to do replenishment/high area picks. When the MHE task is complete, the overlay (exclusion) layer would be deselected and the Master map would then be sent to the fleet as the sole map. The overlay-merged maps would be sent to the fleet and when the overlay is deactivated, the Master Map would be resent, freeing up the bots. The user would be able to select one or more overlay maps to update the map in use.
