Batch Build in LocusNet (Multi-tote/Multi-bot)

Enable (non single) batches to be built in LocusNet. Orders can be split between bots and/or totes to maximize picking performance. (Second slide on "Batch pick to putwall solution option slides" powerpoint).

Problem/opportunity trying to be solved

Batch picking multi orders to Locus with a downstream sortation putwall.

Quantify the problem/opportunity

Higher pick throughput on Locus enabled through downstream sortation/putwall. Whiplash / Ryder highly interested in this.

What is the root cause of the problem/opportunity

Use case not supported by Locus today. Customer demand in certain areas.

First deal with Ryder is 69 robots. Timing is still being determined. High level is target go-live in 2024 and fully operational for peak 2024. 30% chance of closure in current quarter.

The Geodis-Samsung team is also inquiring about this functionality. They are currently vetting out the design requirements to handle this inside Geodis-WMS, but wanted us to do the same on our side.

The Current COO was developed with this multis batch picking in mind. It was the understanding that G-WMS would handle this portion of it but they have run into pushback as their WMS team mentioned the potential complexity.

This batched multis functionality would be used in 2024 after they expand their Samsung site to a new section of the building and plan for the next 3 years of Locus picking through 2026.

    Geodis-Samsung Multis Batch Pick Flow:

    • Either GWMS or LocusNet splits multis orders into Putwall batches (22 putwalls - this value could be passed in a field on the order messages).

    • GWMS or LocusNet sequences the picks within each putwall group in the most efficient pick path and cubes by tote sizing.

    • GWMS or LocusNet sends the sequenced and cubed orders to bots as discrete orders. Current functionality could assign totes going to different putwalls to the same bot in this instance since all totes will be going to the same drop-off conveyor.

    • Conveyor scan reads tote labels and diverts totes to the correct putwall.
