We develop a nesting to the OrderJobTask that includes alternate or substitute SKUs/pick locations. In the event of a short we communicate the short (for the WMS inventory records), but also move forward and execute the next pick task on the nested list. Repeat until the order is fulfilled.

Problem/opportunity trying to be solved
Customer wants ability to provide alternate pick locations and substitute pick SKUs upfront, so that in the event of no product at the primary pick location, an alternate is already in our system; or when they have run out of a SKU, they can pick a substitute SKU from another pick location. |

Quantify the problem/opportunity
This will be an valuable feature for customers that have alternate pick locations for products, but don't want to provide that through the short process (PICK with short, UPDATE with new line and location), as well as grocery e-comm customers who provide substitute items to the customer, that are either accepted or denied at point of delivery. This would also remove the need to accept an UPDATE message after the last pick of the mission. |

What is the root cause of the problem/opportunity
Tesco pick groceries for individual customers, and deliver to their door. They have the requirement to pick SKUs from alternate locations, but also the need to pick substitute items that are 'similar' to the primary SKU. The preference is to provide all this information upfront in the OrderJob NEW message. |
